Athika & Ayush

Meet Us!

Hi, we're Athika and Ayush. In searching for the right words to describe our family, we realized that numbers might do a better job: We've been married for six years, have two horses, three dogs, four cats and eight chickens. We're an international family (both of us have Indian roots), and after traveling the world, we've settled down in a quiet, four-bedroom home east of San Francisco. We're excited about the possibilities our future may bring and glad to have this opportunity to share some of our favorite family photos with you. Come, take a look at our adventures ....

Athika – By Ayush

Athika and I met while attending college, and I remember even then being astounded by her passion for knowledge. She loves music and plays the flute. She speaks English, Hindi and Gujarati, and she is enthused about passing on all of her languages to future generations.

When she graduated from college, Athika continued on, getting her master’s degree in clinical psychology and studying now for her doctorate in neuropsychology. No doubt, her passion for reading and education will be another gift for her to share with loved ones.

Athika is also the gentlest, kindest person that I know. She loves caring for our best friend’s baby boy, Jules (above). When Jutes sees her, his eyes light up, and he reaches out to her to get a hug.

Ayush – By Athika

I think the reason Ayush is so easy to love is because he’s just one man – and yet he has in him the best qualities of eight or nine amazing men.

He’s just as passionate about motorcycling and backpacking as he is about his work as a software engineer. He comes from a close-knit military family and knows the value of hard work. At the same time, he’s delighted to be working from home, which means family and fatherhood will always be at the top of his priorities.

Some days Ayush and Bailey (our sweet doggo) jog to our nearby park and toss the ball around. Other afternoons they’ll relax under a tree in our backyard and chill until noon. They have a really special bond. Both of them love the outdoors.

Riding into the Sunset

Horses are a big part of our family. Our two horses, Eleven and Bear live on a ranch about 10 minutes from our home. We visit them frequently and have gone on some amazing adventures together. We love seeing the world from a variety of perspectives. And riding through the California hills with Eleven, you come- to see the state in a whole new way.

Now that Bear’s turned 25, he might be a bit too old to win the Kentucky Derby. But he’s so gentle and friendly, he has an even better gig now: volunteering as a training horse at a nearby summer camp for kids.

Traveling The Country

Every year we pick a new state and visit all its national parks. This year’s selection, Montana, turned out to be a great choice. We’re not celebrities, but at Glacier National Park, the sky is so bright and blue, you just have to wear shades.

Home Sweet Home

Hiking and biking are fun, but we know our next great adventure will happen right here, on our front lawn, playing catch and running around with the new addition to our family. That’s the upcoming adventure we’re most excited about.
