GREETINGS!
Our story started when we were both in elementary school and Melissa was introduced to her best friend’s younger brother, Carl. Through the years, we became close friends, and when we both moved to Southern California for college, our friendship grew even stronger. Sometime during these college years, we realized the love of our life had been right there all along. In November 2014, we were married in a Catholic Church in San Francisco and soon after moved back to Sacramento to be closer to family.
Meet Melissa (By Carl): The best thing I‘ve ever done in my life was ask Melissa to marry me. She‘s my best friend and the kind of mother who will always put her child’s needs before her own.
Melissa is a great mother, patient, and has a good sense of humor with a generous heart. She works in government contracting which allows her the opportunity to enjoy lots of quality time with family while taking on projects that directly support our community!

Meet Carl (By Melissa): Carl is the most amazing man I’ve ever met! He really enjoys the challenging work of emergency management and the fulfilling mission of supporting efforts to mitigate the effects of disasters and protect all Californians.
As a father, Carl is endlessly patient, loving, and involved. Family time, giving back to his community, and good sportsmanship are very important to Carl.

Our Home
One of the many reasons we chose our current home is the family-friendly neighborhood. We live on a quiet street with an adorable kids’ swing securely attached to a large oak tree in the front yard.
We love our family walks and trips to the park and our neighborhood hosts events throughout the spring and summer, including an Easter egg hunt, movie nights, food truck Fridays, and Fourth of July festivities. We are also members of our neighborhood swim club and Racquet Club, where we have been spending a lot of family time together.
Our Extended Family and Holiday Traditions
No family gathering is complete without food! One thing Melissa enjoys doing is gardening in the Spring and Summer with her Father-in-law. For the past several years we have planted a vegetable garden with tomatoes, zucchini, squash, eggplant, and cucumbers. With the abundance of veggies, Melissa is always looking for new recipes to try out with the family.
The holiday season is our favorite time of year because of all the time we spend with family. It kicks off at Thanksgiving, when we go to Melissa’s brothers for an early dinner and then to Carl’s sisters for dessert (and maybe a little more dinner). The weekend after Thanksgiving we try to beat the rush and head to Apple Hill to get a fresh Christmas tree. Our holiday fun continues with baking cookies with Melissa’s nieces and mother, and exchanging the baked goods with neighbors. And the season caps off with a big Christmas Eve gathering with Carl’s family followed by Christmas Day with Melissa’s family.
One of our greatest joys has been sharing these family traditions with our daughter, and sharing the love and laughter we have experienced our whole lives with her.
Travel and Adventure!
Despite our hearts always being in our hometown with our families, we love the adventures that travel brings and have continued this passion since our daughter was born. We take trips up to our family cabins in Lake Tahoe as often as possible, where we enjoy hanging out at the lake and going on hikes. Our other travel adventures have included trips to the Bay Area, Monterey, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Maui, Maryland, Washington, DC, Delaware, New York, France, and Italy. We look forward to many more adventures ahead.
